It was December 5th, St. Nikolaus Eve – also the eve of the year 2025, what would’ve been Bob Marley’s 80th Earthstrong and simultaneously the 10th anniversary of Marley’s Ghost. For ten years, the band had been battling on the road from Bern to Berlin and from the Bretagne to Bavaria. Yet a fanbase in their Cologne homebase had yet to be ignited. So the band began plotting to rally the troops of their Pearl on the Rhine – with a larger-than-life show in mind. A show with horns, I-Three harmonies, and percussions from Montego Bay, Jamaica, plus illustrious special guests. BAM! „Marley’s Ghost & Friends: Jammin’ at the CBE“ was born. Once the plan took shape, the race was on. Early bird tickets disappeared in a flash, the concert sold out, and the club extended its capacity to the limits of the law.
It was December 5th. With a cream-of-the-crop crew, the band took to the elevated stage at the CBE. With lovely ladies to the left, beautiful brass to the right, and a sea of wall-to-wall smiling faces before them, everyone was lifted up for a glorious musical journey beyond time and space. It was jammin’ and it was fire. Over two generations have passed since the world was able to see Bob Marley live. Amongst his greatest fans are easily the Marley’s Ghost gentlemen who have been keeping his fire burning. Together with their friends, bonded and motivated by their love of the music, „Jammin’ at the CBE“ reached for the stars of „Babylon by Bus“, „Live at the Lyceum“, and the various Marley Bootlegs fans have been listening to on loop for the last 40 years.
Hopefully, this album catches all of that spirit and brings you some of the magic… that fire… some of the love from that wonderful night in Cologne.
